Does SunTank offer the Eskom Subsidy? / Is SunTank listed with Eskom? / Is SunTank Eskom accredited?
 
SunTank hasn't listed with the Eskom program yet. Our customers found the program to be unattractive so far as the costs, associated with the additional requirements prescribed by the program, offset the benefit of the subsidy.
 
The ESKOM program prescribes the installation of a timer unit, an electrical compliance certificate, application documentation etc. Those items cost R2,000 – R3,000 (as of January 2009) which effectively cancels the financial benefit. Our alternative to the Eskom Subsidy is a subsidized Geyserwise installation worth R1,500. This will exceed the net value of the Eskom Subsidy without having to incur any additional costs and saves the consumer considerable time requesting a rebate from ESKOM after the fact. This said, SunTank is in discussions with Eskom about its listing and SABS complaince (see hereunder) and will update these pages when or should it decide to list with Eskom.

SunTank systems are SABS tested and certified, our factory is SABS audited and certified (documentation can be downloaded here) The tests have to be repeated every 12 months for full SABS accreditation. We are currently finalizing the repetition, once completed all our systems will carry the mark.
